Beer League Goaltending

Two nice articles from our new friend over at InGoal Magazine about the mental side of being a beer league goaltender.

The first is about remembering to have fun, and that the challenge and the hard work is part and parcel of the fun. His point: An easy time in goal isn't as rewarding as a hard fought battle, regardless of the outcome of the game.

The second is about getting your Goalie Zen on.

Good stuff.

That first tip is a good one for any player in a 'beer league' not just goalies.

Yeah, so long as the battle doesn't include running the goalie. ;)

Thank for the post, really appreciated! Especially since it's about the posts that I am most sheepish about publishing...

Did you see the link in the news to the blog post suggesting the Wild trade Backstrom? Yikes. But then you like Harding's eyes, don't you?

Biron's eyes! Harding's "meh" on the hot goalie scale. ;)

Yeah, lots and LOTS of debate around Backstrom among Wild fans. It was interesting in Mike Russo's radio gig yesterday, he said what he would do is sign Backy and use Hards as trade bait. Right now, that makes more sense to me. Nik is just unconscious so far this season.

AND I think he will take a discount to stay with this team. He seems more sincere and outspoken about wanting to stay (and what goalie wouldn't want to stay behind a defensive team like this?) than Rolston or Gaborik were in their negotiations.

Anyway, I think if you have more articles like that in you, you should definitely unleash them. :)
