Cross-promotion and Drop-In

First up is a little piece I wrote for T3I that was out of the usual game report nonsense I usually do there. I kinda liked it. Maybe you will, too. Goalies in particular...

--------------------------

I sucked balls at hockey tonight. Not literally, of course. Don't know why I feel I need to clarify that but... anyway...

Kinda wanted to have a good one since I don't play for 2 more weeks, but I'm apparently too stupid or lazy to figure out that I can't go 9 hours without eating before I play. I mean really, Ms.C. You know better. But yeah, had a nice big lunch and just got busy and didn't eat again. Faded quicker than I would have hoped. I stayed out and let guys shoot on me until they kicked us off the ice, though, so it was a good workout at least.

But maybe it's good to have a little bit of a bad taste in my mouth as I go on a break. I noticed tonight how weak my push with my... um... WEAK leg is. I was working with one of the guys after the game and he was doing a bunch of dekey shit on me and I was trying to stay up, stay patient, stay with him. But when he cut to my blocker side, my push wasn't enough to get over.

I mean, I KNOW that leg is weak but I'd never noticed that was the reason I'm not getting over to that side. I'd been blaming it on going down too early, but I think it's more not getting enough power in my push as I'm going down. That probably doesn't make sense to anyone but me (or maybe seems obvious, but it wasn't somehow...).

Whatever.

Time to load my GPS up with all the places I'm going this weekend. :) Is it time to go yet?

Round 2: Aeros v. Admirals

The West Division finals start tonight and it's hot and heavy over at T3I.

Just in case anybody stumbles over here looking for Aeros info (such as my pals from Preds on the Glass), redirect your browser to this here link: http://thethirdintermission.blogspot.com.

That's where the good Aeros shit lives.

*crickets* Just random crap on a lazy Sunday

Quiet over here, we've been so busy at The Third Intermission with non-stop playoff action. Just a reminder to go check out the Aeros coverage over there if that's what you're into.

I'm loving what the site has developed into. Exactly what I wanted when I was a fan in the stands. And I don't say that to brag, because other than my own posts, not one bit of it was my idea. Even Texting Brusty wasn't my idea. Really! I swear! Ask Andrew! (Though really, it should have been called "Textual Relations with Barry Brust" amIright? No? Squares.)

Hockey practice for me tonight. Need to do some stretching today. Then I'll spend the rest of the day talking myself into getting "up" for it.

Also, I ordered overdrive blades, which arrived from Canada yesterday. Shhh. They're illegal in USA Hockey, but I think that's ridiculous and who the hell is checking? Seems like people who have them, like them, and credit them for saving them from some exploding groins. Looks like it will take a bit of doing to get them installed, so I'll go au naturale tonight and I'll install them this week so I can take them to the skate shop if I have trouble. And hopefully try them out at stick and puck later in the week.

Speaking of Canada, I'll have to share my new theory on Canadianity as a religion rather than a nationality sometime. Like, "I'm from Texas, and I'm a Baptist and I love Jesus." but instead it's, "I'm from Texas, and I'm a Canadian and I love Hockey." I haven't fully fleshed this out yet, but I will say that I do gaze upon my goalie pads hanging on the garage wall during the week with a certain religious reverence.

Aeros v. San Antonio Rampage - Games 78, 79, 80; plus, Peoria, Game 1

It's all over but the crying at this point, so I'm being lazy in my compulsiveness.

Somebody was conspicuously lazy this weekend, wasn't she? Sorry.

While I'm at it, I'll just tack on last night's butt kicking in Peoria. In the future, all game reports can just be found at T3I.

Sorry boys.... I love the dogs

The boys over at T3I are rabid about the Aeros allowing dogs into the game next week. I have absolutely no issue with it, assuming (and perhaps this is too much of an assumption) that the folks have figured out how to do it as successfully as other teams around the league have done it, including San Antonio and Milwaukee. I guess we'll see.

But anyway, Joe O'Donnell took John Lammers and Matt Kassian and a video camera out to the Humane Society to see the animals and play with the doggies and pimp the special evening supporting one of my very favorite causes, animal welfare.

I remember when we went to pick out a dog at the Humane Society over here off I-10, I just stood in the room with all the puppies in cages and started crying (I'm welling up now just thinking about it) because I had to choose only one of all these sweet faces. Heartbreaking! But Major the Dog is our kid and I'm so glad we did it, even if he was the worst puppy in the history of puppies. He's making up for it by being one of the best old dawgs in the history of old dawgs.

I'm pretty even keeled and don't get too impassioned about a lot of things, but pets and hockey are right at the top of my list of things I'll get red in the face and a little unglued about if pushed. So this is prime stuff for me. Mix in some foxy hockey players getting kisses from homeless dogs... Dear me. Anyway, this one's for the girls. Check out the blonde who really really wants to go home with Matt. Can you blame her?

Introducing: The Third Intermission

You may have seen a hint of this already, but exciting stuff is in the works for Aeros fans!

Rather than running willy-nilly from link to link to see the latest Aeros news, commentary, and photos, you can now get it all in one place at The Third Intermission.

I was gonna say it's like the Super Wal-Mart of Aeros coverage, but it's really more like the Costco of Aeros coverage, because it's classier (I promise to try to keep the f-bombs to a minimum) and we only take American Express.

We're still sorting out the details but it's up, running, and looking like a good thing so far. You'll get posts from Andrew "Prediction" Ferraro, John "Bikini" Royal, Fred "Awesome" Trask, and yours truly as soon as I come up with something better to say than, "Oh damn, that Stoner is hot."

So, go bookmark it, add it to your Google Reader, and feel free to comment, speak up, tell us what you want more of, etc. etc. Don't be bitchy though. That's my gig.
