Aeros v. Chicago Wolves - Game 43
I'm just stream-of-consciousness blogging this game because I don't have time to write about it afterward. It will probably be annoying to read after the fact but you get what you pay for.
On that note, however, some road game sometime soon, I'm going to set up a live blog chat. There are enough of us who watch these games or listen to them, I think it would be fun.
And that's really just a testament to my improved mood as the Aeros are early in the first period and look oh so much better! Lots and lots of great chances in the offensive zone. Very much the reverse of last night's game so far. Even if it doesn't stick and their legs give out, I'm relieved to see that the boys have this in them.
Also, I admit that I'm cheating on Joe a little bit and listening to Shaver's audio some. Oh, but now that Chicago scored, I'm switching back to Joe. That must have been bad mojo.
And speaking of bad mojo, what the hell got into Locker there? Mouthing off to the ref, I presume (yep, abuse of officials). Of all the guys we really don't need to be without for 10 minutes (plus 2), it's him. And it really shifted the momentum in Chicago's favor later in the first period.
*dinner*
How pretty was that Schultz goal? Three guys in the zone just working those rebounds til they bleed goals! That's how you do it, bitches!
I especially enjoyed the cameraman scanning the crowd for cleavage during commercial breaks. If that doesn't convince folks to subscribe to the Chicago AHL Live package, I don't know what will.
Woo!! Pretty give and go with Schultz and Locke to get the third goal of the night. That makes up for Locker's little temper tantrum with the refs earlier.
Somewhere recently, I heard someone talking about how if you have to run 6 miles, you might think the 6th mile would be the worst. But really it's the 5th mile because on the 6th mile, you know you're nearly finished so you give it a little extra kick at the end. Maybe that's what's going on in Chicago this evening, eh?
Still 20 minutes to play though. Still plenty of time to choke it away.
Here at the 2nd intermission, Schultz has 1 goal and 2 assists in his old barn against his former, Calder Cup Champion team, and Olvecky as the secondary assist on all three goals. Way to find the fire, boys. Good stuff.
Come on. Drop the puck.
Excellent third so far. Just playing tight and not giving them many opportunities... that is until the power play on Sterling's slashing penalty at 13:56. I don't think I've ever seen a power play that looked more like a penalty kill. Here's hoping the Aeros don't get the man advantage again if they're gonna roll like that.
Wolves pulled the goalie with a little over 2 minutes left and the Aeros did a fantastic job limiting their chances. And then Beaudoin put the nail in the coffin with an empty netter with 19 seconds left.
Stars were #2 Olvecky and #1 Schultz. Normally in a 1 point game, I'd say the goalie should get a star, but really, the Aeros limited their chances so well, I don't think Nolan was tested all that hard tonight.
Either way, I'm just completely delighted by the team that showed up tonight. That was a much needed, much deserved win and the team comes home above .500 like *some* people said they wouldn't. :) Neener.
Scratches: Stoner, Lammers, Kassian, Deitsch
Okay, that was exciting. Good work, boys!
Now I have to go get ready for my game. *deep breath*

live blog chats rule. just sayin.
Yeah, I think it would be good. If nobody shows up, I'll just sit and talk to myself. :) Luckily I find myself immensely interesting.
