This is the best You Tube I've seen in a while. A little feature on the Mississippi State Hockey team, including a line brawl during which I don't see a single glove on the ice. Don't they know about dropping the mitts to fight?

that was something else. I have to say that it would appear as if the game is certainly growing in some non-traditional "markets" in America. Bettman must be so proud..
Anyhoo...one of the biggest reasons you don't see gloves dropped in college hockey is because of the full cages they wear. Pretty much nothing to be gained from punching a guy in the face mask with your bear knuckles.

just noticed I typed "bear" knuckles...that's pretty funny.
Anyhoo.."why fight at all" is a good question. I would say the answer is a combination of "because you can" and "selling that particular game."
One thing I would ask is whether or not there was any supplemental discipline imparted on the team in the dark jerseys who seemed to have most of their skaters out there during the brawl while the team in white didn't.
I think the answer would be something along the lines of:
"Supplewhut?"
