Happy F'ing Canada Day
As predicted... Fridge is gone and I'm totes sad about it. Like tears sad. What a girl I am. So embarrassing but whatever. I must be PMSing.
Congrats to HipCheck for her Yotes picking him up. Honestly, you're gonna LOVE him if Gretz uses him properly. He really can play hockey. He's such a cool cat. Not much of a fighter anymore (though he will protect the stars) but still tough as nails and funny and lively and just a swell guy. He's the kind of spirit Minnesota needed to keep, IMO. You've won the lottery as far as I'm concerned.
But nooooo, we trade away a totally charming, leaderiffic prospect in Ryan Jones (who I was so excited to watch this year and apparently has spent the whole summer in St. Paul working out at the X) and a second rounder (which would have been a bust anyway) for a d-man from Nashville whose name I haven't quite learned yet. Zidlicky. Had to look it up. All I'm saying is this guy better knock my socks off. I'm very unhappy to lose Jonesy (though in all honesty, if I were only a Wild fan, I'd be pretty pleased).
More later, I'm sure.
UPDATE: While I was making a sandwich and fighting back tears, Aaron Voros signed a deal with the Rangers. My day is redeemed a bit. I'm delighted he's going to a team a watch a good bit. Though we'll see if he actually makes the big club. If they're thinking he's an Avery replacement, they're SORELY mistaken. But whatever. I'm smiling again.

The Cyotes are starting to scare me. They were way to close to messing up the playoffs for the Stars, last season.
I hate the Rangers. Jager excepted.(Although his playoff beard for this year was vomit inducing.)
Totally! What WAS that thing on his chin?? Blech. I'm not a huge Jagr fan. I honestly loved watching Avery, but I'm happy to have Voros there. We lived in NYC for a bit so they're my east coast team.
And you're right, the Yotes are looking dangerous. Jokinen with my boy Fridge to clear some ice for him... yep.
Did you forget that they will have their very own Staal (Stahl, as a german myself, I can't believe that they spell it that way...)
I don't know what to think of Avery. I can't believe that no one befor him thought of waving hands/stick in front of the Golie before... It's like he was spooking cattle or somthing. LOL
Check this out...
We actually get to root for Brunette again!!! YAY.

I dunno. The Staal boys aren't on my radar. They're just so ... slack jawed... when I picture them in my head. Maybe it's the long faces?
Avery. I dunno. I really appreciate the guts it takes to be an agitator and have pretty much everyone hate you, even you own team sometimes. We have this guy, Cal Clutterbuck, in Houston who is a Wild prospect and he's a terrific agitator but a great guy off the ice. I'm hoping he'll get a chance with the big club this year. They've never had an agitator in St. Paul, so it will be interesting to see how they react to a guy like this. They're very old skool about their hockey up there.
Yeah, I'm happy about the Bruno deal, though I wasn't around for his first stint with the Wild, so I'm not as over the moon as a lot of folks are. It sounds like a very solid move though. I'm looking forward to watching him play!
I like Zidlicky. He played well for Nashville (I follow them as much as possible).
The Wild got a great addition in Weller. I am super jealous of that. I'd so rather have him than Fedoruk!
I’m glad that the Wild might finely get an agitator of their very own. Should be really cool and make them a lot more fun to watch. I know that watching the Stars, and seeing Steve Ott play, is what really turned me on to hockey (then I found out that hockey is FULL of STUDS). And is there anything more awesome than getting the opposing team to sit in the penalty box, while you’re on a power play. (laughs)
Don’t get me wrong, I like Avery’s play its always fun and exciting and he’s really elevated it to an art form. I think he takes being “different” a little bit overboard, though.
If I could really play hockey I would LOVE to be an agitator, & play D. I don’t have really good eyesight (really messed up my playing softball) or I would be thrilled to be a goalie. It’s awesome that you ACTUALLY get to play.
Thanks Hipcheck. I'm hearing more and more good things about Weller. Sounds like the fondness for him is similar to the fondness for Fedoruk among many Wild fans. Nice to hear good things about Licky, too. I haven't seen Nashville much at all, so I didn't even know who he was. At the very least, he's a friend for poor, much-maligned Skoula.
Yeah, Red, my friend who is teaching me to skate, her teammates call her Avery... she loves to be a pest. :)
Though I think this Weller signing is going to make it difficult for Clutterbuck to come up. But I know he's going to bust his ass to make a run at it.
Now they're saying we're trying to get Huselius... I gotta figure out what I think about that. Ohhh, I see he was in on that "sex scandal" with Lilja... *raises eyebrow*
Sorry but all Coyotes fans hate Avery. I hope he stays out East. For whatever reason he hates Doan. How can you hate Doan? He is about the sweetest guy you will ever meet!
Huselius would be a good signing. Sex scandal? I've heard whisperings but haven't heard (or don't remember the whole story).
Some of us Coyote fans are still hoping for Orpik. He'd be a nice addition to our D.
I think we got Fedoruk (and McGrattan) to take some of the protecting off our agitator. They want Carcillo out of the box and scoring goals. But he looks so cute in the box! :P
Oh most everyone hates Avery. I just think he's entertaining as hell to watch. Heard on TV yesterday that he was negotiating with Dallas... Sucks for Doan if that happens (and I'm sure it's *because* he's so nice that Avery goes after him... the more shocking the victim, the better).
Apparently the horny sveedish trio of Huselius, Lilja, and Tellinder took some chick back to a hotel room and had their way with her in 2005. She cried rape afterward, they say it was consensual, they got off the hook (though they did get suspended by the the sveedish national team). It's pretty ick either way. Get some boundaries, boys!
Good luck today nabbing a d-man. I like Orpik and he was certainly on our wishlist, but it looks like we're set for D, especially if Foster comes back from the broken leg (though I doubt it).
