Ooo, I got your crazy
Every time I hear this song, I think I'm gonna sit down and do a Goalie Parody. You know, "Whack my glove again, and I'ma fuck you up" or "Screen that shot again, and I'ma fuck you up"
I'm pretty sure it's a recipe for awesome.

Ahhh, my pal Antti over at the Wild Message Board outdid himself today with this fabulous re-write of "Build me up, Buttercup" in honor of Cal's recent run-ins with various NHL personalities. It's good stuff.
But it works best if you have the song playing, so run this YouTuberation of the original and then dive in. Feel free to sing along in your cubicle. Ms. Conduct's got your back if The Man hassles you about it.
Alex Burrows sings the chorus:
Why do you build me up (build me up) Clutterbuck, baby
Just to knock me down (knock me down) and mess me around,
And then worst of all (worst of all) you hit from behind
When my back was turned (back was turned) Oh, I hate you so.
I hate you (I hate you) more than anyone, Calvin,
It’s hate from your head to your toes…
So check me fair (check me fair) Clutterbuck, don't break my nose.
Keith Yandle sings:
"That’s 2, 5 and 10", ref told you time and again:
When you fight, don’t leave your windshield on (bah dah dah).
My knuckles are red, cuz I can’t find your head
Great One said: “take your damned visor off!”
(Hey, hey, hey!) Hey Coach Gretzky, get a grip
(Hey, hey, hey!) It’s our turn, you are a has-been
(Hey, hey, hey!) I'll be fine
I'll fight him on my time, … k ’99?
Ooo-oo-ooo, ooo-oo-ooo

Donald S. Cherry sings:
I took you to task on a Saturday night, CBC,
I called you “Buttercup” (bah dah dah).
And now I hear talk - that you blasted me back - in the Trib,
I got your dander up.
(Hey, hey, hey!) Calvin, Calvin hear me out
(Hey, hey, hey!) A little face time – I’ll make you famous
(Hey, hey, hey!) I’ll be on
I will be tellin’ Ron – YOU are da bomb!
Ooo-oo-ooo, ooo-oo-ooo

Awesome work, Antti!
If I'm an opposing team's music person, I've got my finger on the button for this song the second he gets a penalty or gets in a fight or whatever. Brutal. But funny.
Back into the jukebox tonight because I woke up in the middle of the night and couldn't fall back asleep. I'm kinda pissed about it, actually, because I aggravated my groin/hip/hamstring pull a bit yesterday doing up-and-downs, and I'm trying to heal up so I can play well (well=not gimpy) on Sunday. Oh well. The insomnia wins again. I'll hit the chocolate milk here in a bit and see if that brings on the sleepies.
I'm saying Kolanos is a member of the Wild now, so he's the Wild representative today.
Krys Kolanos
The meaning behind any particular Tragically Hip song is usually pretty debatable, but I've read that "Yer Not the Ocean" is about fighting a losing battle to avoid falling for someone, and I kinda buy into that theory. I really thought I was going to hate Krys and he's... well... he's up to my chin.

The Aeros are 7-1-0-3 when Locker scores. Pretty damn good party startin' if you ask me. (Sorry for the ad. The good YouTube versions aren't embeddable.)
Party Starter - Will Smith
After the gutting last night at the Toyota Center, I need some joy. How about a little music?
Pierre Marc Bouchard
Raise your hand if you DON'T think of Mr. Spin-o-rama when you hear this? The puck will find a way, just give it time. Dig.
Round and Round - Ratt
Paul Albers
It's just got Paul in the name. I didn't say my thought process was particularly complicated on all of these. But this IS one of my favorite Willie Nelson songs. And I noticed that the person who posted this on YouTube has also posted a bunch of hockey fight videos, so that seems like good kismet.

In the doldrums of mid-season, I figure it's time to do something new. I'm not huge into music but when I was doing half marathons and marathons, I needed lots of it to get me through the hours of training. And occasionally, I run across a song that makes me think of certain players or situations. So, I'll share those in little bits over the next few weeks, with one Wild and one Aeros player each time.
Aren't you excited? Woo! Let's go:
Mikko Koivu
Mikko's gotta have a bit of a dark side, as intense and competitive as he is. This song totally makes me think of him. One of my favorite Hip songs, too.

Barry Brust
Taptaptaptaptap...
Superstition - Stevie Wonder
